Sweltering summer days and nights require your air conditioning system to work at peak capacity. If your cooling system stops working, it can quickly become an urgent problem. AAA Northgate is known for fast AC service and expert technicians. We’ll figure out what your AC repair needs and answer any questions you might have about your system to ensure that you keep your cool through the hot, humid days of Illinois summer.
Here are some tips on basic maintenance you can carry out yourself to ensure that your air conditioner is in good working order:
When your AC system doesn’t work properly, or breaks down, you need an experienced AC service professional to diagnose the problem and repair the unit at a fair price. Common problems with AC systems include improper operation (keep those doors and windows closed!), faulty installation, and poor or infrequent servicing. Improper installation can result in leaky ducts and low air flow. In many cases, the refrigerant charge is not properly done, resulting in poor performance and lowered efficiency.
Air conditioners are built to take a lot of abuse from weather and the outdoors. If your unit fails, the first thing to do is check the fuses or circuit breakers. Let the system cool down for at least five minutes before resetting the breakers. If the unit stops working on a hot day, the high-pressure limit switch may need to be reset (see your owner’s manual for instructions).
Repairs can be costly. Ask about our preventative maintenance programs. We can automatically schedule and perform your AC cleaning and tune-up.
If replacing your air conditioner is your best option, we’ll give you an estimate on the right high-efficiency Carrier unit for your house. If you need help with the cost of a new system, AAA Northgate also offers financing for Carrier products through Wells Fargo.
